Review on LG 40WP95C-W UltraWide Thunderbolt Borderless Monitor with Dual Controller, On Screen Control, Wide Color Gamut and 5120X2160P Resolution by Steven Johnston

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Outperforms two monitors!

I've had a month to work on this big monitor, edit hours of video in FCPX and use the CC pack and now I can honestly say it outperforms a dual monitor setup. Coming from a 27" iMac (2015) with a 27" 4K partner. I was actually waiting for the "M1 iMac", but Apple has apparently moved away from this form factor with its new studios. Drawing board for my upgrade path. I wasn't very impressed with the Apple Studio Display for the price, so look a little further into the market. I stumbled across this LG, I liked the specs but had my doubts about the curved screen. It's actually not that bad. the curve is not extreme as I feared. Be sure to use the program guides though - unless you're looking straight at the center, you'll notice a slight curvature in your lines. Don't watch football on it. ;) If you don't mind the nuances of curved screens (it took me a few days to get used to it), then this thing will actually save you a lot of desk space. My setup with two 27" screens was actually more real. It's nice to only have one color space and no black bar in the middle. Speaking of which, the immensity of these ultra-wide screens can be a bit difficult when controlling your windows. I'd use the magnet -Recommend app on Apple App Store. Blue icon. Allows you to orient windows to full, 1/2, 1/3, 2/3,... screen sizes. Really helps isolate your windows! I'm sure Windows OS has something similar.Feature wise comes a full featured Thunderbolt 4 cable perfect for the M1 Mini.I also like the 2 USB 3s on the right.I have an SD card reader that now just living there and how my old 2009 iMac works with the SD card reader on the side. The color space is easily switched with the joystick button at the bottom center of the display.HDR, sRGB, DCi-P3, etc. are easy to switch. I have a hey age of 60 (max. 100) and this works great in my room (low light, no dark room). I could see that it can be a bit dark in full daylight, but that's not the ideal environment in my line of business. Conclusion: I chose this monitor for the "terminal of the future" and chose the M1 Mini with maximum performance. . Processing 4K and Photoshop files is very easy. No regret!
