good price for good performance requires external power supply.

This is a good quality microphone for its price. The kickstand, pop filters and toe box are a good deal. The stand is generally good, easy to hold. The shock-absorbing mount holds the microphone in place without slipping, and handling noise is almost minimal. Overall this is a good mic, it's not too bright and seems clear when it's on. The included XLR cable to the headphone jack doesn't work, not that it doesn't work, but you'll need an XLR jack with phantom power for that. This can be done either by feeding 48V phantom power via the built in phantom power adapter or by using a USB interface that supplies it, as in my case with the UM2. In my tests I found it too quiet eg with a USB soundcard feeding it only 5 volts, that improved it but didn't come close to a clean UM2 input with real phantom power. To me the UM2 is really clean and quiet with that and complements it well. Build quality is good, the condenser capsule that houses the condenser is plastic, but the condenser itself is larger than your little cheap mic and is quite moldable. The metal body is solid and not too heavy, its average weight. While the finish is good and the grill is pretty solid I would say it won't be drop proof like some of the more expensive ones. But overall it would hold up very well. The inside of the PCB is generally good, a bit of hand soldering to the wire connectors, they are wired to the pad so not through a hole and there is some flux and residue with clean component placement. The inside of the grill also has a liner for it. Paired with a sock or pop filter, this seems to work well. Overall build quality is excellent for the price and it sounds good. The price alone is good without the microphone, I thought if I didn't like it I could retrofit it. For me this is good, especially for quick language work, as well as for conferences and games. It's not Sure or AKG territory, but for the price you can't go wrong.

Pros
  • Microphones and accessories
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
