Review on Jamo Studio S809 πŸ”Š Floorstanding Speaker Pair - Black by Terry Kohl

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Near audiophile quality at a low price

Being a Klipsch fanatic my dream LaScala speaker is way out of my price range ($8000.00) so I looked for a cheaper solution but the most of these were low end Klipsch all still out of my reach. So browsing through the options I came across the Jamo S809 and after reading reviews and listening to audiophile reviews I pulled the trigger as they (a pair) sold for less than half their list price plus the price of a single similarly designed Klipsch speaker. . When they arrived the box was beaten to hell, but the speakers were fine with just a little damage to the edges. I immediately put them in my living room system and substituted in for a pair of Klipsch R-15 bookshelf speakers, which sounded fantastic but were too small for a 15 x 30 foot room, even with a Polk subwoofer. I hooked them up to a 100-watt Sherwood stereo receiver and started smashing them, randomly digging through my music collection so they played everything from classical to heavy metal. The highs were a little harsh at first but when it started it softened and now it sounds fantastic allowing me to hear nuances that I can't hear in my family room with the same music but the same music but with 40 years of history BIC formula 4th and POLK monitor of the 40s. They definitely fill a room, and while they don't require a POLK subwoofer, I left it in the system for the songs that really enjoy that extra base. Overall I'm very happy with these speakers and would recommend them to anyone who wants a lot of sound for a little money.
