We ordered 2 of these covers for our sofa as our elderly cat started to urinate on the sofa regularly. We've tried pheromones, added another litter box to the house, changed litter brands, run kidney tests to make sure she wasn't sick (all good!) and unfortunately nothing has done anything to curb the behavior. Sofa covers and puppy pads, but at some point the smell became too strong despite daily washing and sanitizing. Those mylar covers mostly worked — the cat peed on them the first night they were on the couch, but that's about it. I suspect she didn't like the "apron" as the material is 100% water repellent and she was also startled by the rustling of the cover so she hasn't lain on the couch since. She hasn't peed outside of the trays since either, so I think she just marked the couch as her own and found it to be a great place to continue writing. In fact, I don't mind walking or sitting on these surfaces at all. Sure, she's not someone to pee on the couch, but fair warning that your mileage may vary depending on how shy your cat is. We were just lucky and the right cat was scared.
