Review on Hauppauge 1653 Cordcutter Wi-Fi HD TV Tuner: Watch Over-the-Air Channels on iPhones, iPads, Android Devices, and Media Players by Fernando Ramani

Not as advertised for streaming media player

After connecting my device to Wi-Fi it does not appear in the myTV app which needs to be downloaded and used with it. After several resets and retries it seems to be connected. For the record, my cable provider uses clear QAM signals, which I used to work with on the TV's separate built-in tuner, but when I scan the signals on the cable cutter, it finds 0 channels. On the device itself and in the software, everything only shows ATSC and has nothing to do with QAM at all, although the official website clearly states that it has two tuners. I'm currently awaiting a response to a support ticket, but if they don't respond in time I will send it back. I also agree with another reviewer's comment that the ethernet port is essentially useless and the instructions don't mention a way to use it. Update: After contacting support I got an update. The currently released iOS app version 2.12 does not currently support crisp QAM and the connection time is about a minute longer than the current instructions. They expect to release version 2.14 early next week to fix these issues. If they release it next week I will provide an update with the results, if not I will be returning the product. If you're using Android, the support reps said it's fully functional, app version 1.0.17122810, but I can't confirm this as I'm not using an Android device.
