I had no problem with the ID at the bottom of the filter being too small, this filter fits. However, FYI, Ridgid's "crazy" setup is stupid. I'm glad I didn't break the thing trying to unscrew it. Unlike my larger Ridgid shop cleaner, which uses a spindle with a threaded nut on the end to attach the filter, this particular vacuum uses a rod with a non-removable molded "nut" on the end that you simply click on to remove press or install the filter. Since the nut had tabs I took a pair of pliers to try and unscrew it. Stupid engineers, they had to make the handle completely smooth to show it wasn't removable. I'm glad I didn't break the thing.
