Review on πŸ”Œ HiLetgo 0-30V Adjustable DC Regulated Power Supply DIY Kit: Short Protection | 2mA-3A Range by Tyler Spencer

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good enough for my needs but has issues

Fun to build. Came with no documentation that would have been helpful. Found some instructions online. There are several versions of this kit, some of them have a lower rating than this one. There is a very large thread on the eevblog site that discusses the flaws and possible changes. I decided to only use a 18VAC or less transformer as all the other mods seemed overly complicated to me. 24 VAC is too much for the powered op amps and will eventually go away. I replaced the 24v regulator with a 5v regulator and am using it with a 12v fan to keep the noise down. A 5V regulator dissipates a lot of heat, so both the main transistor and the regulator have been mounted on a powerful CPU heatsink. Pay attention and check the components. I had 2 zeners back and it took me a while to find them. The only problem I have at the moment is the 100k ohm trimmer where the zero voltage does nothing for me. I see voltage -00 which distorts my voltage reading. Also, there is no exact reading of the ammeter, but it is most likely a Chinese volumetric meter.

Pros
  • Lots of good vibes
Cons
  • Some flaws
