I don't like Romex. I prefer to use BX when given a choice. I often have no choice, so I gave in to peer pressure and bought a Romex puller from a trusted hand tool manufacturer. It does what it's supposed to do, which is to strip the plastic insulation off a piece of 12/2 or 14/2 Romex without damaging the insulation on the wires underneath. It doesn't work that fast on 3.12. or on 10/3, but with a little finesse it will get the job done. The built-in wire strippers also do an excellent job of stripping individual wires as intended. Haven't tried the screw cutters but they're good and the ones on my regular wire strippers work great so I'm assuming they'll work too. My only complaint is the latch that keeps the jaws closed for storage. Maybe it's just me, but my hand kept closing the lock as I pulled the strippers down the cable. It's very annoying to have to release it half the time I'm working. Shortcomings and personal biases aside, this is a good tool. If you work exclusively with 12 or 14 Romex, they can and should be your main strippers.
