While many of the comments here focus on the fact that this card is plug and play (and it is), I have focused on installing a 4x SATA hard drive enclosure via USB 3.0. The MacPro has 4 hard drive bays and I use them all. The problem is that they use the computer's power supply, generating heat and preventing heat from escaping the computer. This allows me to eject those drives and still get the same, if not slightly faster, speeds from those drives, reducing the load on the MacPro. Are there drive problems? Only after hibernation but no data loss and I didn't have to initialize or erase drives to install them. Now I can turn them on as needed or just leave them off. The primary drive is an SSD in a PCIe 16x slot, so it's fast enough. I now have 5 SATA drives for backup and 4 for entertainment - mostly movies that stream better over USB 3.0 with better picture quality!
