It cools the sides of the face rather than the front or back of the head. The real downside of this neck fan is the battery life. You are lucky that you can use two hours before it needs to be charged which can take 3 to 5 hours to use only 2 hours. It doesn't seem to matter what speed you turn it on I only have 2 hours before it dies and whoever wants to put it on low speed you can barely feel the air. It would be great if it had a battery life of 8 hours or more, but unfortunately it doesn't and I wouldn't recommend buying a Lafando neck fan.
