Like everything under the sun, I have a Honeywell HCM-350 humidifier. Like everyone else, I don't like the ever-changing but always overpriced OEM filters, so I try to find third-party replacements that work as well. As with everything else, some of these purchases work well and some don't. I found a brand that worked well but it seems to have disappeared from Revain so I had to find a replacement. I don't know why the heck I thought six $17 filters would be anything but a disaster, but for some reason it seemed like a great idea at the time. You have arrived safely. I appreciate that they are in a reasonably sized bag and not an unnecessarily large box. That's literally the only good thing I can say about her. I took one out and it looks fine, just like every other third party filter I've ever bought. I rinsed it under cold water for a few minutes and then soaked it in a bowl of cold water for about 4 hours just to make sure it was performing at its peak. I took it out and put it in a nice clean HCM-350 with a full water tank. I cranked it up to full blast, placed it in my achingly dry bedroom, and went to bed. I woke up 9 hours later and checked the water tank: 20% of the water was gone. 80% of the water remains. That's ridiculous. 9 hours on high with a brand new filter should have resulted in an almost empty water tank rather than an almost full water tank. I took the filter out, re-wetted it, put it back in (turned it upside down because I always turn the filter upside down to prolong its life and avoid mold), filled the tank, set it to medium and left run him for another 9 hours. I checked again: still only 20% of the water was gone. I've continued to use this filter in my usual usage pattern and all I can tell you is that these stupid filters barely work. I have no idea why. Even the crappy filters I've had in the past worked WAY better than this one. The only way to even increase the humidity in my bedroom is to run a humidifier 24/7 on medium, which in a small bedroom still only delivers up to 50% humidity. I still wake up in the middle of the night with a dry throat. I haven't had this problem with any other filter. I'll try to return them and see if Revain even refunds the money for the 5 filters I didn't touch (although they're usually amazing). customer service and I bet they will give me a full refund as the product basically doesn't work). I take a refund and buy two packs of OEM filters for a stupid price; I feel like I need a palate cleanser before I resume my endless hunt for a mythical third-party filter that works well enough and costs reasonably well. Let my experiment warn you: don't buy this junk. He only has to do one thing and he doesn't do it at all.
