Research YouTube for your specific application. Requires a medium socket. There are several bushings and washers for different applications. Personally, I have a 2010 FLHX that needed a sleeve and washer. The hub collar should face the bike from the back of the shock. I kept the lock washer on my factory install but replaced the washer with the one that came with it. I have 5"10" about 200 pounds and I start with the 3rd stop setting. After three rides, the ride is more comfortable and I haven't hit rock bottom yet. Definitely worth the money and effort to install it yourself.
