Candles will make your pumpkin sooty and speed up the decomposition process. Nobody wants to be constantly reaching for pumpkins to turn the lights on and off. This is where this product comes to the rescue. The battery-operated tea lights emit a pleasantly warm yellow light. Thanks to the remote control, you don't have to reach for the pumpkins to turn them on and off. In addition, turning it on with the timer button gives you a choice of 4, 6, or 8 hours. They turn on and off at the same time every day, so this is no longer necessary. It rained the first night and my flashlights filled with water. The tea lights floated inside but continued to function after being taken out. Only two of them started having problems. I highly recommend this product. See attached photo of my jack-o'-lanterns. The top one is plastic in which I used tea lights, the rest are real hand carved pumpkins.
