This item is very well made but once installed it is a bit confusing. It's assembled in a way that doesn't actually work, but that's why you're given Allen keys to take it apart and then put it back together in the configuration that best suits your needs. Once that's done, it's great for larger lenses that don't have a tripod mount. The mount is very versatile and you can install it in a variety of ways. The biggest benefit is that you can balance the camera/lens with full assistance on a tripod, which greatly reduces camera shake. This is a huge improvement over simply mounting a camera on a tripod with a large lens.
