fur. I had high hopes for it. I have 3 cats that are box geeks so I figured that would be safe. There are a few problems with this product: 1.) It's a huge assembly problem. The tongues hardly want to bend, and if they do, you have to be careful not to tear them off. 2.) The upper part is not firmly connected to the lower part. When a cat jumps, it falls. 3.) It remains gathered on the sides. I'd say that thing might cost 10.00. Don't waste your money or time. Note; my cats hate it. They'd rather play with a Costco box.
