I have a 2020 Mazda CX5 GT. This item comes in a box with three components: a base, a ball/ring that fits/screws onto the base, and a phone holder. Take the base out of the box, unscrew the ring and insert the ball into the base, put the ring back on and install the bracket. It all snaps into the dashboard without any damage/scratches I could detect. The emergency flasher button was easily accessible through a cutout in the base. The Mazda Connect screen or dashboard vents were not obstructed. The connection screen was still easily visible and accessible. You can customize the look of the phone in the mount by loosening and tightening the clamp. My Moto G6 fits perfectly in the mount. However, you should be aware of the thickness of the cell phone when it comes to the case. While my phone fits perfectly, larger models may not fit. When you attach your phone to the bottom of the mount, the two Y-arms on the sides fit snugly to the top of the phone case. Again, larger phone models can have issues with this system. You can also just charge your phone from the socket in the storage compartment and run the cord to the bottom of the phone if your phone has a socket underneath. The only minor complaint I have is that extremely rough road conditions can cause the mounting ring to come loose and then "flop" the phone's vision. When I get in the car and put the phone in the holder, I "tighten" the collar for a second. Most of the time this is not necessary. The beauty of the attachment system is that voice commands to the phone (Android) work just fine without the over-sensitivity of Android Auto. To sum up my assessment, there is no "suction" with this mount, it snaps onto the dash and there is only one way to install it, so it's easy and deserves a five star rating. For my cell phone. Thickness is not an issue, hence my rating is 5 stars, but others may need to carefully consider this issue. Finally, for "transparency" whatever it is, there are no obstructions to the view or functionality of anything, including airflow from the vents. It took a lot of research to find this item and how it works, but I had it in about a month and it was great. Now I can only hope that my next phone is the same size.
