Review on πŸ› οΈ Chisel Planers Honing System for Effective Sharpening by Jason Ortiz

You get what you pay for

This type of honing guide has been copied and manufactured by several different manufacturers. I'm on a tight budget and starting out with wood, so I'm not able to invest in Lee Nielsen's sharpening guide. A few things to know: 1) Unlike other sharpening guides, this one doesn't include numbers for setting the gap of your blade. To figure out how to install my planing attachment, I had to do a little research first. Not the end of the world.2) After unpacking, you need to check the product. Everything looks fine at first, but then I started noticing that the build quality was poor and uneven. 3) When the planer is installed and tightened, the guide will bend, resulting in a change in angle. To fix this the inside edge needs to be sanded heavily to accommodate this. I know it might be possible with the purchase so I was prepared for some of them but not as much as I needed to be. My overall rating is one star because there were more bugs than expected. Quality control does not exist for the company that manufactures this product. But will this product work? Yes, it will, but only after significant improvements that correct poor quality manufacturing.
