HDMI ARC audio extractor works as advertised

I tried another brand's audio extractor that didn't work at all, but this HDMI ARC audio extractor worked on the first try. I had to add a USB extension cable to get from the USB port on the back of the TV to the audio extractor's power port as I needed to find an extractor, but it was easy to do. I also used a good quality HDMI cable between my TV's ARC port and the extractor's input. The sound quality of the external speakers is very good, so the setup works as expected. The only downside is that I can't get the audio from my DVD player through the extractor, but I understand that this is due to the internal circuitry of the TV, so it's not the extractor's fault per se. It would be nice if there was a way to access both the DVD audio and the audio coming out of the ARC connector. Apparently only the sound sent from the cable box to the TV is sent to the extractor via the ARC connector.
