The basis for comparison is my previous wireless G USB adapter for my TivoHD. The Wireless G Adapter was easy to install on my home network - just a USB port on the back of TIVO and that's it. Product installation for wireless N products is not easy. The wireless version of the N (which I received as part of my Premiere update) is a bit more complex and requires its own adapter plug to plug into the LAN cable. and a wireless adapter. Think of it as a giant "Y" with a CAT 5/6 Ethernet (big phone jack on the end) that goes into your TiVo's LAN port, the right end of the "Y" goes into a power outlet plugged in for power, and The left arm of the Y is a cable to the wireless adapter pictured. There are more cables to keep track of, but I think the extra power gives the adapter more range and more power compared to my previous G-USB adapter. Then you need to flip the Tivo adapter and make sure it is NOT configured in bridged mode. On the back is a small slider that looks like a light switch. Next comes the synchronization with the router. If you have a wireless N router with an auto-sync button (AOSS or equivalent), all you have to do is press it and quickly navigate to the Tivo adapter, then press the center button and wait for it to sync with your router. It seems to take a while, and you'll be rewarded with a solid blue light if you're using a 5GHz router, or a green light if you're using a 2.4GHz router. Once you see solid light, you're done. Not difficult, but certainly not intuitive. Please note that I haven't seen an option to manually configure the adapter for the system since the TiVO premiered. I'm guessing it's auto sync or nothing. You might want to read other reviews if that bothers you, but N routers should be new enough that I think everyone has one. I've been up and running for a few days so far and the connection has been great - solid. As always, Revain top marks for amazing shipping speed and good secure packaging.
