Review on πŸ›’οΈ JDI-8DCP 8 Gallon Economy Portable Poly Oil Drain by JohnDow Industries by Eric Grayson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not bad, maybe a bit cheap, no instructions

Oil drain. The packaging was fine. You will receive a hopper, a base with casters already attached, a ribbon tie around the filler neck, 2 metal tubes and a small package of hardware. I didn't know how to align the metal tubes. One is inserted into the other and the way the holes are in each tube I assumed I had to bolt them together with the bolt, washer and nut provided. This puts the screw right in the oil drain path, but I think that's intentional. The funnel is then inserted into one end of a tube with two small holes in the end (of the tube). Obviously you're using 2 bolts through the tube and either against the funnel or on the sides of the funnel mouth. There are no marks or holes. The band clamp around the filler neck was lowered close to the reservoir and I pulled the Bijibus out, barely pressing on the tube assembly. After that I noticed that the neck of the canister was slotted and if I loosen the clamp and move it closer to the top of the neck, the tightening squeezes the slots together and keeps the tube assembly at the correct height. I assume this is also a method of changing the height. The gas cap looks pretty cheap and the handle is a joke. It's a lump on top of the container with no indentation, not even for your fingers. All in all, for a first lift height, this seems like a regular sump, but I wouldn't be surprised if I retrofit it later. but most likely not another John Dow product.

Pros
  • Solid finish
Cons
