*****Edit*****17/12/20**** a problem in the days when more advanced robotic vacuum cleaners became available. We'll be keeping this guy for our second home in the country to help clean up, but we just bought a Roomba and I have no regrets. It's a Cyber Monday sale, and the vacuum cleaner maps our house, charges up, empties the trash can, and comes back if it doesn't pick up exactly where it left off. I will leave a review on this model elsewhere, it was the Roomba i3+ model. iRobot is simply the best vacuum cleaner robot and they've been doing this for years and it just keeps getting better. Lasted a few weeks and couldn't be happier. Just worth the extra money for not keeping an eye on it, otherwise "might as well suck it up yourself," right? In any case, as for this VBOT, have no fear as he retires to the countryside where he can do some cleaning from time to time on lazy summer days. Anyway, that's speed for it ;) Okay so I didn't buy this vacuum from Amazon, I bought it from my local VCS store as they sold it there. There are no online reviews for this model. I suspect because it's relatively new. However, I wanted to find a popular place to warn or recommend to others who may have bought recently. No warnings yet, but will update as necessary. I wanted an entry-level robot vacuum on a budget. It's basic, unlike the Roomba, it doesn't charge, you can't schedule cleaning times and it doesn't "map" your rooms, but for the price I decided to give it a try. I charged it for 12 hours, tried it and am happy to report that it worked great for over an hour. Information about vbot products is limited, but 12-16 hours seems sufficient. The instructions say the light is on when you're done, but I haven't done that yet. It rolled smoothly down my short rug and blended in with my tile floor quite nicely. With three cats he collected quite a bit so the pull seems to be strong and the litter bin was full. It's not too loud, but it seems powerful. He gently bumps into obstacles, retreats and continues on his way. There are preinstalled programs that I believe the vacuum cleaner "chooses" at random. There are few heads here, but so far it's working. Its default moves are circular, spiraling along the wall, and random. Thanks to these movements, he actually came through my living room and was able to get into my kitchen and bathroom. I wanted something for daily cleaning until I could tear apart an upright vacuum for weekly deep cleaning, and so far this seems like the $100 answer. Yes, it has stuck in corners and other places from time to time, but I believe most robot vacuums do this from what I've read, so you'll need to check from time to time. But having a vacuum that can pick up bulky hair and dirt on its own on a daily basis so I can do other chores around the house is a good thing, and for the price you can't beat it. I deduct one star for the charging time, which seems exaggerated at 16 hours in 2019. I'll update if things get worse.
