I don't usually write long reviews but in this one I tend to share what I've done with the duvet so others can do the same if they want it to be a good buy. Many people say that wool should never be washed. I think that in the case of this blanket, you need to discard the typical suggested directions and try a different route. The bedspread itself was piled with a massive amount of fluff if you will, as others have pointed out. I took a chance and used a top loading washing machine and I don't regret my decision. I put it on the cold setting and added a very mild detergent. After washing, the fluff turned into huge balls of fluff. I took it all outside (straight out of the washing machine) and shook it vigorously to get rid of all the lint. I had blue hair all over. After the last one fell off, I put the blanket in the dryer for five minutes at a time on low heat, cleaning the lint trap after taking it out and shaking it. It took me about twenty minutes for the quilt to be practically dry, then I hung it on my porch railing and let the wind do the rest. At first glance I was worried when I took it out of the washing machine because it looked a lot thinner, but I promise that once it dries it will be fine. Wool shrinks when wet. When everything was dry again, everything was perfect. No fluff. no fluff. just a very warm blanket ready to use in winter. I would recommend all family members to buy one if you live in a cold climate as it is perfect for lying at the foot of the bed in combination with a standard duvet and also for summer storage. I will be using mine as a cloak with a celtic pin to keep it in place as part of my viking outfit. "Dark blue" is a very dark color and was probably originally a darker coat and appears to have been dyed with indigo. It's finely woven to be a finer fabric than some others I've seen. The size is large enough to easily cover a double bed, and as a raincoat, it needs to be folded in half or it will fall to the ground, even when buttoned on the shorter side. I could easily look like Jon Snow with an Ikea rug.
