Review on LEKI Carbon XTG Pole Pair by Alejandro Labustin

Great poles for outdoors

Okay, I'll give the first review in English. I'm quite a long hiker - up to 20 miles just so you know how my poles are used. I got a TA XTG to replace my 4 year old Leki Carbonlite Aergon XL one of which was accidentally hit on the car. I liked these bars, it's a pity they still make them. These were the closest I could find and they are very close. On the one hand they are better. First, I only buy Leki sticks with these grips. I often squeeze the rounded top of the handle when we're going down the mountain. Holding the sticks properly (i.e., properly attached wrist straps) allows you to switch from a palm grip to a regular flight grip without interruption. This is especially important if your terrain is very uneven - uphill and downhill. I never lengthen my poles, even for long descents (it makes them uncomfortable), so this feature is vital and I won't buy poles with a different grip. Also bracelets. They are so soft and flexible but not stretchy. They make them very comfortable for long trips. The straps actually hold my poles in a normal position, so I don't even have to wrap my hands around the grip. It was another must have when I wanted to replace my favorite sticks. The only reason I prefer my Carbonlite XL is that they are only slightly heavier at only 0.45 ounces per stick, but I can feel it. The Carbonlite weighed 7.15 ounces, the TA XTG weighed 7.6 ounces. I don't even want to mention it because the TA XTG is very light, it's the second lightest Leki stick I could find. The only ones they outperform are the 0.3 oz Micro Vario Carbon Black series, but they are much more expensive. What I get for the extra weight is the aluminum profile, as well as the Speedlock hinges - both are fine for most people (I could do without the aluminum). These TA XTGs will be much lighter than most people. Most sticks weigh 8 ounces. What makes them better than my old sticks is the Speedlock 2 adjustment, I couldn't adjust the others. My husband had to do this because I have problems with my hands. It wasn't a big problem because I almost never adjusted them. With them, however, it is quick and easy. In fact, I can roll them up for travel if I want. By the way, the color in the pictures is just plain ugly. i hate orange In person it's actually very sharp, more like a burnt orange with a significant amount of red. Which stands out against the black background. Revain gave me back the opportunity to post photos. I will do this to show the color. These are beautiful, extremely functional sticks that I highly recommend. Be careful - if you use your palm, you may be forever tied to this type of Leki bar, just like me.

Pros
  • The SPEEDLOCK 2 dual lever locking mechanism is quite simply the most TOUV RATED outside locking system in the world and the only locking system that meets the minimum TUV recommended holding force.
Cons
  • Modernity
