Technically, this should be a negative review. I bought purple and crimson sets, mixed them up and tried to darken the gorgeous ruby red dress. The dress was 100% polyester but that was all the information I had. 3 hours and a huge mess later (took forever rinsing; dress was like a dress) the dress was exactly the same shade as when it first came out. At least I didn't ruin the dress. Not a hint of color stuck to the dress. That was incredible. However, for fun I wore a peachy bra which I never liked because it was a pastel peach color. It turned out a beautiful purple color in 20 minutes. I love it. The threads are not colored, well, okay. Looks like something from the Victoria's Secret pink collection. Before coloring I did a lot of research. Hours of reading websites and reviews. I washed the dress, kept it damp before dyeing, bought a huge pot just to dye, even bought BBQ gloves. The folks at Dharma Trading are great at answering questions about dying anything and I was recommended BBQ gloves so I can actually reach the bottom of the pot to move the dress instead of just stirring it around. Apparently the hottest bottom of the pot is where the paint will soak up the most, so it's important to go down with gloves on and make sure no part of the dress is hanging down longer than others. it mattered in the end. When I called Dharma Trading again to find out if I should try to paint longer I was told no. Most polyester materials work great with this dye, even clear plastics (I've heard), but some materials have been chemically treated and will resist. Including this ruby red dress. Spring. "You cannot know until you try," said the Dharma speaker. I'm not even angry. Even though my dress didn't hold up, the rich color of my bra was enough to convince me to try Idye-poly again next time I need it. And one more thing: some reviews said that the color will decorate your kitchen anywhere. That's right. I opened the bag very carefully, making sure the hot water wasn't boiling, and covered the entire area around the stove with foil and a cloth on the floor. There was some purple on my goddam windowsill. The counter on the opposite side of the kitchen from the stove was mottled purple. I don't know how, but this thing just takes off and flies. I'm in an apartment so I can't do anything.
