Precise and Versatile

There are a number of different styles of corner clamps in my shop and the style clamps of these Relitec R 90 Aluminum Corner Clamps are the most versatile and the ones that i go to mostly i appeal. They can do the job of a jawed angle clamp but have a much more compact footprint which gives me more freedom to position the work piece for driving fasteners. The squares can be positioned inside or outside the work, and the clamps can move up or down the square, giving me good flexibility to access work anywhere without a clamp getting in the way. They also serve as a base square for quick checks. They won't replace my frame square, but I can use them to test the square on a saw or jig. Relitec has also included 2 hard plastic angle brackets which can be used in conjunction with the rod clamps as additional mounting brackets or just to quickly check the squareness of something. One nice thing about installing a saw blade with plastic squares is that I don't have to worry about scratching the nice finish of my anodized squares. The Relitec R 90 has a very nice finish. As you can see from the photos, the finish is not bad, the anodizing is nice, the aluminum squares are exactly 90 degrees. The L-shaped threaded connectors snap in well, and the handles, while plastic, have metal threaded inserts and attach fairly securely. They have a measuring scale in inches on one side and centimeters on the other, and the scale starts just opposite the opposite foot, so they're useful for measuring distance from a corner. They easily pick up 2D wood with lots of thread room. The plastic squares also did a good job of keeping my speed square out of the light. They are made of rigid plastic that will not bend at all under moderate pressure. Both the aluminum and plastic squares are removed from the inside and outside corners so I can use them to get a nice 90 degree fit. In the end, they're well-made, very useful, and versatile layout tools that I refer to a lot. I highly recommend them.
