These headphones are all about presentation, although there are still details. To me, these headphones have a $1,000 headphone dynamic range, making them some really great sounding EDM or all things electronic. But they don't sound bad with rock, you just sometimes notice that the mids and highs are left a bit on the table to get details out. However, bass is probably the most realistic response out of any open-back pair of headphones, and they respond well to EQ. One of the most important things about them is that they're the most comfortable things I've ever worn on my head, and they're $15 down. Pads helped. However, I had to bend down a lot in the first week to get the headphones wider at the top. If the metal band was about an inch taller and had two right angle bends at the corners, the fit could fit any head size. What I have to do to achieve a seal is put it on a very small setup which has the disadvantage of my earlobes resting on the underside of the inside of the pads. However, it's still more comfortable than any other headphones I've tried with glasses and I can wear them for 6 hours without a hotspot. This may be due to the very light clip, or because the pads are made from the softest foam available. But they just had to cram more foam into the pad, that's the problem. This has been corrected by stuffing fabric on the inside of the pillow to make the lining less likely to fall off. Another thing is that they really look you in the face with an average soundstage and picture. For me, for less than $1,000, they would be perfect if they had a wider scene and accurate rendering and more detail in the center. Also, it's the easiest thing in history, most of the time you can go numb on your smartphone alone. The sound is very unpleasant, but never harsh. To my ears the signature is pretty flat even at full volume, maybe a little harsh at 2kHz but that's easily fixed. Combined with a very smooth and tight reproduction, this means you don't even have to listen at full volume to truly immerse yourself in the sound. If you listen to EDM at all or just love things that make crazy noises I would say 100% buy these unless you have a huge head.
