Very cute but too small

I bought this for a pirate costume. I read the reviews that said to go up in size and I took XL. I'm a size 10, 5ft 6in, 155# tall. It hardly fits and gives no results at all. I'll probably send it back even though it's very cute. The material at the bottom of the skirt is definitely more suitable for a suit, I wouldn't wear it for anything else.
