Do not overtighten the top nut.
As mentioned, because the top nut is only stapled, it doesn't come off completely. Try not to overtighten. Also, the plastic film tends to stick to the vinyl when using Madacide fd. I've switched to green soap and it's helping. Otherwise, this is normal for a cheap armrest.
