Out of the five I received, three never showed up on my Windows machine. I found that on all three failed devices, the metal part is pressed in too deeply and glued to the wood, causing the drive part to protrude from the wood. This means that the computer's connector never "sees" the drive because the drive is never inserted far enough into the computer. It was easy to see that two working discs had more metal sticking out of the wood than three non-working discs. I think that's why so many people are reporting that their drives won't mount.
