I sprained my ankle very badly and the clinic gave me a shoe and told me not to put weight on that leg/ankle for at least 2 weeks. Unfortunately, I was also suffering at the same time from a pinched nerve in the 5th cervical vertebra, so I was unable to use crutches or move around in a wheelchair - the pinched nerve weakened my arm. . With the boot they gave me at the clinic, my foot was moving around in it, still in a lot of pain as I couldn't help but put weight on it. So I bought this by typing "walking cast" in the search bar. The United Ortho Walker made the ALL DIFFERENCE! It stabilizes my foot in such a way that any weight I have to put on my foot is alleviated. After wearing hiking shoes for 5-6 days I can say that my foot and ankle are improving. The air pump takes a lot of pressure to inflate the foot, but it cushions well. I use a walker with it as I don't need to put any weight on it anyway, but when I walk on it it doesn't hurt. I am also sure that this much higher quality item costs MUCH LESS than the other lower quality boots the clinic gave me.
