Review on πŸ”¦ Enhanced Visibility: Piaa 5370 Black LED Fog Lamp Kit in White Shade by Christopher Smith

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Revain Description Fake but very pretty fog lights

Sometimes you have to wonder who does the product descriptions in Revain. This is not stamped steel with glass lenses. Luminaire body/body is cast aluminium. The lens is made of plastic. This is a good combination for an LED lamp. It's lightweight and durable. No relay is included as a pair of these bulbs only draw about 12 watts - 1 amp. It should be noted that this lamp model is one of the few (if any?) true LED fog lights. Most LED fog lights are actually headlights. With a fog lamp, all light above a horizontal plane (from the center of the lamp) is lost. This means that at least 40% of the light is lost in almost all LED fog lights. Also, light that goes "up" creates more glare. The LP350 lamps have a very slim design. Each lamp has two 3W LEDs. They are mounted on a printed circuit board running down the center of the luminaire. One fires and the other fires in the reflectors. You can't see the LED directly in front of you and the reflector design creates a wide, flat beam. I mainly use these bulbs to fill the low beam on a Piaggio MP3 500 scooter. Mounted low these bulbs slide and fill the space under the low beam. The low seating position also helps accentuate the features of the road surface. I ride with them most of the time so I can see better on the road. Why am I giving 4 stars? (1) Many drivers want more light. (2) The included mounting hardware is a little flimsy and doesn't fit PIAA mounts at all. I think there will be more designs like this (pointing up and down in reflectors) in the future. , especially since LEDs with 100-150 lumens per watt are increasingly being used in consumer products.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors
