I'll start by thinking that Nikwax and Mcnett make great products for waterproofing leather and restoring DWR finishes. However, when it comes to washing only technical clothing, I find their products overpriced and kind of a rip off. This product is excellent for removing dirt from soft fabrics and other technical fabrics at a much lower price than, for example, Nikwax cleaning products. The only thing you want from a technical detergent is something that rinses off completely in the rinse cycle and leaves no soapy residue on the fabric. Regular laundry detergent leaves residue that prevents the DWR from "self-healing” and makes the DWR treatment less effective. You can never restore a fabric to its original water repellency with a normal detergent. Seriously, you won't. Atsko material does just that and you save more than a few dollars compared to other brands. But still buy Mcnett for DWR restoration and Nikwax for waterproofing boots!
