These drives are excellent replacements for older IDE/ATA CD and DVD drives. Normally everyone needs a DVD drive these days, so why not replace your CD/RW or DVD/ROM drive with this one. All in all a great ride. However, I've had some of those annoying issues where the tray won't detach when the button is pressed for some unknown reason. Yes, the paperclip's "exit hole" will eventually open it, or 10 to 20 key presses can eventually open it. I suspect it's just wear and tear on the plastic parts of the mechanics.
