After reading reviews I bought a small hamburger press and ordered wax paper squares. I'm finally stocking up in my freezer and used them for the first time this week. They are perfect for my needs. I used a sheet at the bottom of the press and placed a "ball" of ground beef on top. Put another sheet on top and squeeze out the cutlet. No problems exiting the chop from the press. I frozen the patties in a flat pan and then placed them in freezer bags. I left both the top and bottom paper on the patties to keep them from sticking together. Just to be sure, I checked them the other day and had no trouble unplugging them for use. I tried taking one of the papers off the patty to see if it would stick and if it would be difficult. She pulled away with no problem. For this first try, I made 1/4 pound patties. Later I can make 1/3 or 1/2 pound patties. I made a few big ones to experiment with. I figure if I run out of ground beef I can just defrost and fry four 1/4 pound patties. That gives me a choice. :) After I was about half done with the meat I had an idea and I diced the onion. I mixed the onion with the ground beef before making the chops. This makes it faster and easier when using meat. I use onions in almost everything so I'm ahead of the curve! I will definitely be ordering more of these waxed paper squares.
