I currently use them as surround left and right in a 7.1 configuration. Advantages: 1. Omnidirectional mounting. The speakers definitely have this feature and I mounted mine at a 45 degree angle to the ceiling and wall. It doesn't require any special mounting hardware, just a few screws and a few drywall anchors. Be both in height and width. I was expecting them to be closer to the 4.5" width listed in the cone size, but if I had to guess it's closer to 7" wide. They're also much larger than I expected. When I set them at a 45 degree angle, they look as wide as they are tall, making them look like a square Speakers.2.Sound: Generally, the speakers are pleasantly loud, they offer excellent richness, but my wife and I do agree they sound "tinny". I haven't added a subwoofer to our system yet and think this will fill in the gaps. By the way, this is our first true surround sound system and we know absolutely nothing about the speakers .this was just our honest review.overall i am happy with the speakers and they are perfect for our needs just a few comments and i hope they help others with their decision.
