Just wrap and tape (Velcro) but certainly not too tight and the boom is instantly lighter! They are on the thicker side so cutting them was enough for me. For my knee I didn't cut it at all, 2 inches was perfect because I'm short. These aren't your typical premium headbands, but BETTER! I had problems with my wrist for several years and since 2017 I have had patellar tendinitis in my right knee. I've tried many different supports. On a recent doctor's visit my doctor made fun of my arthritis wrist brace lol I'm 34 and told me to get a regular bandage. I don't normally listen to it, but here I'm glad I did. I put this under my knee orthosis, which I only wear at home anyway. I ordered them and of course, thirsty as I was, I tried them on as soon as they arrived. Immediate relief and movement were a breeze. Every time I exercised, I would get scared because I thought my wrist was about to break. LMBO. Between working out, wrist/knee injury, keyboard and mouse all day, this is the best relief I've been looking for so far. My compression gloves work well (writing) but I've fallen in love with these. My doctor showed me how to wrap it, but when I got home I also found some videos on Google/YouTube. 5 Little Gems, Total Victory!
