I bought these 6" plates and bowls for easy and eco-friendly cleaning for a wedding reception and decided to check them out today. Test the crockery and wooden cutlery that I also received. Remember that the knife in the cutlery set is quite blunt. The 9 inch plate held the pork chop and beets very well. Juices are absorbed into the plate but not through. When I finished eating, I took a knife and sawed very hard on wet spots. It took 73 passes to pass through the impregnated panel. I could load it and still hold it with one hand. The bowl required two hands when filled to the brim with soup, but one hand will do if the bottom is supported and not too full. Soup was absorbed but not through. Used a knife on a bowl and did 100 passes before stopping. The 6 inch plates are sturdy and hold a lot of dessert :-)
