We have had a ground fence (SportDog 100) for about 3 years and initially installed the main wire that came with the kit. This worked great when we kept our dogs on our 5 acres, but we started taking breaks after a while. Lots and lots of breaks. And often we didn't realize it until the dogs ran away and we got a call from our (very patient and kind) neighbor. So no matter how much pain we fear, it's time to replace it with something stronger. The price for this was amazing and it was delivered quickly (oh Revane, how did we live without you?). It took almost all day to install the new cable. We didn't bury much of it, we just laid it on the ground and held it in place with lawn clips. We buried the portion that crossed the gravel driveway. Our area is surrounded by forest, so undergrowth grows on top of the wire and keeps it in place well. So far, so good! No more interruptions and the dogs are safe.
