This is a worthy replacement
I still have a stationary one. This was beginning to cause problems for some of us, and I put it down to loose connections in the contractor's contact terminals connected to my house. The outage was likely due to years of use of the wall-hanging phone. I replaced it with this device and I am very satisfied with the product. I wanted a metal plate for strength. Moving the wires from the original to this one was a tricky process, but after reading a few pages online about colors, it wasn't a big deal. This was my first time fiddling with phone cords and it was as easy as most home repairs.
