The way the leaves are twisted makes it very difficult for a person to stick them straight on themselves. Do not take them off to fix them, otherwise they will lose their stickiness. The pins are very cheap / bend easily so don't press them too hard or they will be useless. It definitely looks like the plastic on your furniture (it's shiny) but so far it's kept our cat from scratching stains on the couch!
