My 15 year old fridge made a clicking noise but the fridge freezer was still cold and the ice maker was slow to make ice. I've noticed that the compressor takes a few tries before it starts, sometimes 30 minutes after it cools down. I checked the capacitor and it was within range. The start relay and overload protection test also went well, but is probably in the final phase. I replaced the starter relay and capacitor and the clicking problem went away and the compressor started up immediately. The ice maker will function normally again. It costs money to keep that old refrigerator running. Let's hope it lasts another 5 years.
