The blue tint seems to help a little against glare at night but the difference is probably negligible. Most likely, this is for more aesthetic purposes. The convex curvature of the mirror helps a bit too, giving you an extra 1-2 degrees of field of view. If you are ordering this particular mirror (300mm convex AND blue tinted), double check the product upon receipt to ensure it is convex and has a bluish tint. The packaging for the rest (flat and/or non-tinted) is exactly the same. I ordered two of these and the second was flat not convex. Not a big deal but you should get what you paid for. Easy to install (attach the top two rear clips to the top edge of the mirror, pull down and attach the two bottom hooks) and it looks great in any car.
