The straps appear to be made of durable material. I have a 34 inch waist, just enough slack in the elastic to hold it in place and didn't need to be trimmed. It will be larger if you are looking for play at a 38 inch waist. Not sure what the clips are made of, some kind of plastic? Comes with an extra clip for each strap, great value even if one breaks along the way but they seem strong enough. Pairs well with Tru-Spec 24/7 and 5/11 tactical pants.
