So I finally bought the Ken Onion Work Sharp System, and here begins our "wrapped" adventure. Mind you, I've only had this a week and Az already wants me to review it. I must confess that I have not lit it yet. So The System looks great and all I've done with it so far is sit down with the instructions and figure out how it all works. The above box was attractive enough to make me buy it. I especially love the yellow racing stripe! The system was advertised as not specifying which storage option was included, so it is labeled "Khanka Hard Travel Case Replacement for Work Sharp Knife & Tool Sharpener/Ken Onion Edition (Yellow Lightning)" because it presented itself as a replacement for something else than the advertised box the system was shipped in. It's okay semantics, but... not quite the way it is. The second problem was that the people from Khanka texted them directly and wanted to know everything about the box. It all looked a little dodgy so I didn't respond Now to the box itself: It's molded semi-soft/hard NOT hard material that seems to be well made (sitting for a week) and that yellow stripe is killer! When I got the box and started fitting the system into it, I found that if they made it an inch or so taller, the body of the sharpener would actually fit without having to fold it up a bit. Big deal but a bit of a hassle Now that I actually had the sharpener and box, I see in passing that all the photos of the storage boxes show the sharpener folded. It wouldn't be obvious if you weren't familiar with all the parts. No mention of it in the promo info I can find. Are all boxes made by the same factory? In addition, there is a mesh area in the lid to indicate that spare straps can be stored. That works great. I got a box of each of the replacement straps except the really rough one. So with the sharpener folded, three sets of straps, no boxes, no instructions, closing the Hank case was like trying to close an overstuffed case. Doable, but IF they made or made the thing a little bigger in all dimensions it would actually work fine. Oh, and the sharpener only needs to be placed in the box one way or the roller on the sharpener will cut into the straps under the storage net. So if I could get a replacement I would look elsewhere. It would be great for something less than a knockout system.
