Can't control thermostat

I made the mistake of buying 3 of these thinking I could use them like I used to use Nest temperature sensors. Sounds logical right? Not correct! To do this you need a ZSENS930, which is normally only available from an HVAC dealer. costs for it? Installs about $250 per sensor. But wait, does the ZSENS930 look the same? So! This is literally the exact same hardware, but with different firmware and an additional sticker inside. As far as I can tell the only difference is that the ZSENS930 has a serial number and is identified by the system as a different model number. This way you can register it to control the temperature. Translation means that Trane is artificially creating a revenue stream for HVAC dealers and itself. And that, my friends, is nonsense.
