I bought these cables as a cheap alternative to winter tires for my Toyota Tundra. The cables arrived just before a heavy snowfall that should have brought 4 inches. We ended up with about 2 inches so I couldn't use them. Then came the worst snowstorm ever recorded in March. We registered 6.9 inches. I put the chains on and went to try them out. I have a Tundra 2wd with 265/70/18 tires. My Tundra is a great truck, but downright terrible when it comes to driving through untouched snow. The snow that fell was very wet and heavy and I usually get stuck even when the truck bed is heavy. So, with these cables, I not only got through untouched snow, but also through big snowdrifts that left plows. I really felt like I had a four-wheel drive truck. The instructions that came with the cables were very clear. The cables never came loose after initial tightening, even after hitting 30 mph. On the cleared roads, the tracks sound downright sloppy, so be prepared to turn the heads of the snow plows. I've never owned snow chains or cables, but I would definitely recommend them to anyone.
