I used to have a magnetic phone mount that I attached to an adjustable arm that bolted to the passenger seat mount. While this did cause the phone to quieten a bit, it worked very well in my commuter car most of the time as long as no one was driving with me. Recently, it seemed to me that I drove my wife and children more, and the lever mounted on the seat simply bothered the passengers. but with positive feedback on DuoMount I was ready to go. My previous magnetic mount held my phone alone with a fairly thick case. The DuoMount had trouble holding my phone until I placed one of the included metal plates inside the case. The magnet now holds my phone with no problem. I ended up turning the DuoMount upside down so the thumbscrew was on top and the magnets were on the bottom. Due to the slope of my dashboard, this has actually flattened the DuoMount so it's a little firmer. Because the magnets are fully adjustable, I had no problem adjusting my phone to a position that was comfortable for me to use. I was also able to use a small metal loop to create a handy place to hang my sunglasses when not in use.
