After spending the morning diagnosing problems between this cable and my dinghy connection, I discovered that the problem was with this cable. Two pins on the 4-pin connector were not connected. They have been stripped but not attached to their screw terminals. In addition, the left and right turn cables were crossed. The blue strands were "white", "black", "yellow" and "red". On the seven-pin connector, pin 1 is ground, pin 3 is the running light, pin 5 is the left turn, and pin 6 is the right turn. These pins are labeled on the back of the connector and the recommended wire colors are listed there, but they do not match the wires used in this cable. White was connected to pin 1, red wire was connected to pin 6, black to pin 3 and yellow to pin 5. These four wires need to be connected from their respective positions in the 7-pin connector to the connector's four pins on the other end. end in the following order (looking at the end of the connector, not the end of the wire, with the outer button facing up): top left = ground; top right = running light; bottom left = turn right; bottom right = turn left. These blue-ox jobs are different than some others I've seen, but as long as they match your boat's wiring, they'll work. As I said, the white (ground) and black (running light) wires were properly connected, but the turn signal wires were reversed. Once the problem was diagnosed, the solution was simple. Just move the wires on the connector. Each is connected via a nice screw terminal connection. I have no way of knowing the history of my particular cable, but with missing connections on one end and crossover wiring on the other, I thought the information above might be useful to someone. still.
