These are the newest and fastest Powerline adapters that are still compatible with the original Powerline standard. There are newer (faster) technologies like "G.hn" but they are not compatible with the original Powerline standard. I discovered this the hard way since I got orig. I ordered Comtrend PG-9172 adapter (had to send back). I wanted a speed boost that would work with all of my existing powerline adapters that I have scattered around the house. Comtrend didn't work with the old powerline adapters I had (most of them 200 or 500 Mbps). Zyxel PLA5405v2 works. This gives me a nice speed improvement over my old powerline adapter (which plugged into my router). When I use the appropriate Zyxel adapter where my HTPC is, I see a 75 percent speedup compared to my old (200 or 500 Mbps) powerline adapters. As long as the Zyxel devices remain reliable (I've only had them a few days), I'll be very happy.
