I bought 0000 steel wool because it was described as good for polishing chrome and cleaning headlights. Well it basically ruined the chrome on the side of my front bumper leaving swirls and other scratches that I have no idea how to fix. Luckily I noticed the damage it was doing before I proceeded to do a full bumper, but I wish I had never tried it in the first place! It also scratches headlight lenses because yes, I was stupid enough to try it on them too 😖. I won't even try to use it for anything else that the listing says it's good for based on the results I've had!
